Summer School in Beirut (Lebanon)

„Global Justice and Migration: Middle Eastern and European Perspectives“
The summer school aimed to encourage 36 students from three universities and with different personal / academic backgrounds to think critically about injustice on a global level, focusing on migration and displacement. This forum offered an opportunity for intercultural exchange and learning. The topic of global/social justice and its manifold conceptualizations in different societies, classes and milieus, social movements and selected sectors of society was analysed and discussed by students and scholars of various disciplines. In addition to academic exchange, the students visited local and international organizations and stakeholders in Lebanon, active in the field of migration and refugees.
06 – 18 October 2015, Arabic Language Class
Twelve German advanced BA and MA students of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies participated in a 14-day Arabic language course. The course was jointly organized by Beirut Arab University and University of Cologne.
